Vidshelf is a private video bookmark manager. Paste links and organize them with covers, titles, lengths and tags. Everything stays on your computer, with no account to make.
Windows 10/11 and Linux. Free.
Copy links from anywhere and paste them all at once. Vidshelf picks out the links, skips the ones you already have and fills in each cover, title and length.
The desktop app keeps your library on your computer. Browser lite keeps it in this browser. Neither needs an account.
Nothing to sign up for, no email to give, no servers keeping a copy of your list.
The desktop app asks for your password every time it opens, so the shelf stays closed to anyone else.
Export the whole shelf, covers included, as a single backup and import it on another computer.
Start in the browser if you just want to try it. Install the app when you want the full shelf.
Windows 10/11 and Linux, 64-bit. Free, no account, no tracking. Older versions are on the releases page.
What gets saved, where it lives and which version to choose.
No. Vidshelf saves bookmarks and their metadata, including covers and available preview stills. Clicking a bookmark opens the original website. It does not download full videos or make them available offline.
Both the desktop app and browser lite are free. You do not need an account, email address or subscription. There is no cloud sync.
Choose the desktop app for Windows 10/11 or 64-bit Linux if you want a password lock, cached covers and hover previews where a site provides stills. Browser lite works without installation in a modern browser, including on macOS and mobile, but has no password lock or hover previews.
The desktop app stores its database, covers and previews on your computer. Browser lite stores its library in this browser profile using IndexedDB. It does not sync across browsers or devices. Clearing site data removes the lite library, so export a backup first.
You can save public video links from different sites. Covers, titles, durations and preview stills depend on what each site makes available. Browser lite uses noembed for supported public metadata; the desktop app can read more pages. Unreadable pages remain usable bookmarks. Requests for metadata and images contact external services or the linked sites.
Yes. Export a JSON backup and import it into the other copy of Vidshelf. Desktop and lite backups work in both versions. Read the setup and backup guide for installation, storage locations and recovery.
